Sangita Shrestha, wife of interim PM Sushila Karki’s chief personal secretary Adarsha Kumar Shrestha, was appointed to the PM’s Secretariat at joint-secretary level on 18 September 2025. The Nepal Gen Z Front demanded her immediate removal, calling it “nepotism and cronyism” — nepotism and the “Nepo Kids” were at the heart of the Gen Z protests.

The Karki government’s term ended in March 2026; current status to be updated.

Response from those concerned

The PMO defended the appointment, saying the PM needed "someone trustworthy who could work with her closely, day and night".
